"For those who are struggling and fighting strongly to get well, or in connection with the affairs of their daily life. They will go on trying one thing after another, though their case may seem hopeless. They will fight on. They are discontented with themselves if illness interferes with their duties or helping others. They are brave people, fighting against great difficulties, without loss of hope or effort". Indications that Oak is needed:

  • Physical exhaustion, no strength to carry on.
  • Struggles on even when exhausted, endures more than most.
  • Over-responsible and reliable, difficulty resting or receiving support.
  • Ignores body’s need to rest, hard work ethic.
  • Lower physical body pain or fatigue e.g. back, legs and hips.

Oak and Dr Bach's Seven Remedy Groups

Oak is one of the eight remedies in Dr Bach's Despondency or Despair group. Each remedy in this group addresses a different way in which we can experience discouragement, emotional distress or a loss of hope and confidence, helping us to develop greater inner strength, self-acceptance, resilience and emotional balance. The eight remedies are:

  • Crab Apple - feelings of impurity, self-dislike and a need for cleansing or purification, Elm - feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities and temporarily losing confidence in one's ability to cope, Larch - lack of self-confidence, feelings of inferiority and fear of failure, Oak - struggling on despite exhaustion, overworking and difficulty knowing when to rest, Pine - feelings of guilt, self-blame and unworthiness, Star of Bethlehem - emotional shock, trauma and distress following difficult or upsetting experiences, Sweet Chestnut - extreme mental anguish, deep despair and feeling at the limits of one's endurance and Willow - resentment, bitterness, self-pity and a sense of being unfairly treated.

How to Use Your Bach Flower Remedy

Our Bach Flower Remedies are supplied at stock level and can be used individually or combined with other Bach Remedies to create a personalised combination.

Using a Single Remedy: add two drops to a glass of water or make a treatment bottle by adding two drops to up to 30ml of spring water. You can also use the remedy directly from the stock bottle.

Creating Your Own Combination: choose up to eight Bach Flower Remedies and add two drops of each to a clean 30ml dropper bottle containing spring water and a little preservative (brandy, vegetable glycerin or apple cider vinegar are all good options). If you're including Revival Remedy, add four drops of this combination.

Taking Your Remedies: for a treatment-level combination, our usual guidance is four drops on the tongue, six to eight times a day, taken regularly throughout the day.
